this idea came to my mind, a flash of lightning struck the
ground, frighteningly close to me."
A nearly unique window of time was recently opened to our
generation. We were privileged to witness the dawning of new
era, the new millennium. Every nation, tribe and tongue have
one thing in common. We observe time in the very same way...
years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, and seconds. All
of us who witnessed the arrival of the year 2000 will forever
be held in common bond by this event.
Such a moment in human history should be memorialized. A symbol,
some fasinating structure could mark this crossroads in time,
this place where for a moment, all humanity converged.
"I see a monument spiralling skyward, held in place by twenty
supports, bending in different directions. There is one support
for each century which made the year 2000 possible. The spiral
points to the heavens, symbolizing the hope of unity for all
nations and cultures... A staircase with 2000 steps leads
us upward and onward, where halls and walls display the artwork
of the ages, each generation represented. Our Temple-Monument
would be secured to the earth and rest on polished metal plates,
like mirrors reflecting the direction of time, past and future."
